Newell And Doherty Sign For Next Season

The Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Volleyball Club is pleased to announce their next round of post-secondary commitments from this year’s graduating class of players. We are thrilled that they will be continuing their competitive careers, and proud they will take their Predators experience with them to the university level.

London, Ontario, native Calum Doherty has signed to join the program at the University of New Brunswick. The son of Tim and Alison, he has been with the 18U Boys Legacy team for two years. Calum’s skills as a competitor have grown significantly in his time with the club, and his dedicated, purposeful work ethic will make him an excellent addition to the Varsity Reds’ squad. “Calum is extremely hardworking and goal-oriented, and we are excited to see how he takes his game to the next level at UNB.” - Lynn Vicic, Head Coach, Kitchener-Waterloo Predators 18U Boys Legacy

The club is also excited to report that outside hitter Ben Newell has committed to remain in the local area as a member of the University of Waterloo Warriors. The son of Jeff and Sara, the Brussels, Ontario native has been in the Predators program for three years, having played on both the 1999 Purple and 2000 Legacy squads. The high standards he sets in training, and the demanding performance expectations he places on himself, will serve him well in the Warrior program. “We have known Ben for years, and are extremely proud to have him join our program. He has the right values off the court and has the work ethic to keep getting stronger, both physically and technically. It’s great for us to have a KW Predators athlete join our program.” Shayne White, Head Coach, University of Waterloo
