With a full crowd watching at RIM Park this past weekend the 16U girls almost upset the eventual Gold Medal winners, 17U Element, after taking the first set of the Tier 1 quarter finals 28-26. The girls fought strong in the second set with a score of 17-25 but just couldn't manage the tough Element squad losing the third 10-15. Ravage 15U Boys Ontario Champions!
This past weekend the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators 15U Boys team, Ravage, competed in front of a home crowd at RIM park to claim the club’s first ever Boys Provincial Championship title. This was a great feat for the boy’s program which is only in its second year of existence. Ravage entered into the tournament as the fifth seeded team and posted an 8-2 record over the tournament, going undefeated on Championship Sunday winning the Gold Medal final in a dominant 25-8, 25-14 straight set victory.
This highlight tournament pitted Ravage against 27 other teams from across the province in a gruelling three day competition which featured some top-notch volleyball. Throughout the tournament Ravage demonstrated the depth of their team and their program with all team members contributing in multiple ways throughout the weekend. The boys truly rallied together, showing how much of a team they were, spelling each other off for a mental break, a passing formation change or a specialty serve. This championship was the end result of the work of ten dedicated, focused and united young men, who truly demonstrated what it meant to be a team, with each individual playing a crucial part. Without each of these individual pieces of the puzzle, this championship may not have been possible. MORE

Preds Power League Tournament a Success
On March 27th, Ravage hosted a round robin tournament at St. Benedict's CSS in Cambridge where they got to face off against seven of the top teams in the province. In a great preview of the upcoming provincial championships, Ravage showed well against all competitors. Running a split squad all day Ravage was able to field two groups in the tournament lead by previous Regional Team Athletes Blase Wasser, Scott Foggo, Kyle Richards and Greg Simone. With both sides learning some valuable lessons, the Power League left Ravage with some last minute tweaks to work on going into the provincial championships. A big thank-you to all that were involved, especially our guest coaches! Another big thank you to Alen Brcanovic and Cam Porteous for competing with us for the day.

Tale of Lessons, Choices and What Not to Say to Your Coach
Call it what you will, but I only like to write articles about my team when we do well; arrogance, pride, whatever. I also usually only write these articles from a third party, outsider prospective. However, this story is one that I want to write about my 15U Girls Purple team from the coach prospective. This past weekend in Rochester something happened with these eleven athletes as they competed in the VolleyFx Winter Challenge. Coming off two dominant performances at their previous two OVA tournaments winning Bronze and Silver medals, the team set off to continue their winning ways. However, their performance this past weekend and the last two tournaments, would never have been thought possible just five weeks ago in Cleveland Ohio at the OVR National Challenge Cup. This is what makes this story a great one! more
Preds Help with Haiti Relief Kits
Over the past few weeks, on behalf of the Predators Volleyball Club, the 14U Girls Purple, 16U Girls Purple and the 18U Girls team donated enough items to build 20 kits for the relief effort in Haiti. The kits consisted of basic hygienic supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap as well as bath towels. The kits go through the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) where they are packed and shipped overseas. The MCC is a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches that works for peace and justice as well as responding to basic human needs worldwide. 18U players Brieanne Gallant, Kaitlyn Skinner, 18U coach Corinne Williams and 18 U parents, Veronica Gallant and Barbara Skinner packed the 20 kits donated by the club as well as packing an additional 120 more kits. Thanks to everyone who contributed, it is appreciated greatly and will help many families to rebuild their lives in Haiti. more
17U Boys’ Bugarski Cup – March 6th, 2010
The 16U boys entered their final 17U tournament of the season with high hopes after a silver medal finish in our previous 16U event. It would be a challenge with two of our middles missing for the entire tournament. This would create the opportunity to give our players lots of playing time and for some players the chance to play some of their secondary positions. Complicating the mix, was trying to implement some of the new systems we have been running in practice as we are in the “integration” phase of our season long training plan. Our goal is to peak at provincials so considering the above factors, we went into this tournament with an open mind. more
Ravage Assumes 1st Position in Ontario
The 15U Ravage boys travelled to Barrie this past Saturday to compete in the 15U Bugarski Cup. The boys started off the day against one of their rivals, Forest City Green. They had a slow start to the day but managed to split the two games (26-24, 25-27). With their second and last game of pool play, they had to face off with the second seed in the tournament, Durham Attack Black. More
15U Girls Purple Establish Among the Best
"As it's been all year, our team had something to prove." said Stephen Green, Head coach of the 15U Preds Purple team that competed in the 15U Championship West tournament in London this past weekend. The team had a chance to play some of the top teams in Ontario which had placed in to the Championship Division. more
14U Boys Win Silver and Guelph's Second Fittest Kid
At the 14U tournament on February 20 at St. David's, the Predators were once again playing for gold. The team played well all day and finished first in their pool. They, then went undefeated right until the end, when they played a close, exciting match against the Niagara Rapids. The boys can take pride in going home with silver medals to match their gold medals from a previous tournament. more
Preds Coach Selected for Prestigious Honour
The sport of volleyball is growing nationwide, and with that growth comes the demand for promising young coaches. With so many insightful, talented, youthful individuals entering the volleyball coaching profession, the AVCA wanted to find a way to spotlight the up and- coming professionals in our sport at all levels of the game. The AVCA Thirty Under 30 award, established in 2009, introduces the volleyball community to the top thirty coaches under 30 years old. To be eligible for this award, nominees had to be members of the AVCA, and have to be under 30 years of age in 2010, the year in which they are receiving the honor. more
16U Girls Purple Continue to be Tops in the Province
Paul Pavan’s 16U Purple team continues to frustrate their competitors earning another silver medal in the Tier 1 division. In the finals, a fatigued Predators team came up against their long standing rivals, Durham Attack and with 1 point needed to seal the match in game 2, were unable to finish. The ‘Attack’ were the victors recording scores of 20-25/26-24/15-7. Other match victories included wins versus Thunder, Storm, Titans and Mavericks. The girls will be in an enviable 2nd place ranking heading into provincials hoping to ‘peak’ at just the right time. More
14U Girls win Silver at Hawkin's Cup
The Girls U14 Predators had a fantastic tournament at the Agriplex in Stratford and were rewarded with a Silver Medal at the Hawkin’s Cup tournament. The Predators defeated West Elgin Warriors and Twin Bridges Thunder 2-0 in round robin play to finish first in their pool. Their Quarter-final match was against South County Bandits Black, a team they split with at their very first tournament in Windsor. more
16U Boys win Silver at Burgarski Cup
The boys have been steadily improving this year showing flashes of brilliance in many matches this season. Our team goals at this event were to get as many yellow game sheets as possible and win a medal. In order to accomplish these goals, the team would need to display those shining moments on a more consistent basis. This would prove to be a challenge with two of our starting players, Nick Frank and Harrison Smith, playing at less than 100% after being ill this week. more
16U Boys Challenge Cup
The 16U boys were really looking forward to this tournament to try out their new defensive system against familiar foes. Starting off the day against Mac 15U, the Preds never unveiled their “A” game and lost consecutive games 17-25 and 20-25. The next match in pool play featured a much anticipated match with the Preds 15U Ravage. Playing one of our strongest matches of the season, the older Preds won in two straight by scores of 25-19 and 25-20. Our final match of pool play was against our cross town rivals, the Waterloo Tigers. Unfortunately, the boys did not play up to their capabilities and fell 19-25 and 18-25. We finished in third place in our pool of four. more
Silver Lining for 16U Girls
The 16U girls purple team took home the silver this past weekend after being downed by their arch rivals Durham Attack 19-25/25-21/12-15. The girls played a tough match but Durham proved to be the better team ‘this time’.
This very talented 16U squad went undefeated in pool play beating Forest City 25-13/25-12 and then winning the split against Oakville Thunder 25-12/21-25. Advancing to the playoffs, the Predators came up against a determined Ottawa Pheonix team. The Predators proved too much for their opponents, taking the match 25-15/25-15. more
