15U Girls Purple Establish Among the Best
"As it's been all year, our team had something to prove." said Stephen Green, Head coach of the 15U Preds Purple team that competed in the 15U Championship West tournament in London this past weekend. The team had a chance to play some of the top teams in Ontario which had placed in to the Championship Division.
And prove it they did. Fresh off a critical learning experience in a tough Ohio Valley Region tournament and a bronze medal finish in the previous OVA tournament, the Preds knocked off the number five ranked team in Ontario in the South County Teal Bandits in round robin play. After two more victories over MAC and Twin Bridges, they achieved another first by defeating the Woodstock Warriors, a top ten team for most of the season, in the semi finals. From there, it was off to the Gold Medal match which would be a second shot at the South County Team Bandits.
The Preds threw everything they could at the Bandits including one of the top middle attacks in Ontario, played strong defense, and served tough but could not win the seemingly see-saw battle with South County to go down 23-25, 23-25.
The Silver medal was a deserving reward for this team which has discovered how to bond on the court as a true force. The third medal finish of the season for this team saw them finish ahead of teams such as Georgetown Impact, Woodstock Warriors and the Waterloo Tigers 95 Black; all teams that have placed in Premier for most of the season.
The Preds next action comes this weekend at the VolleyFx Winter Challenge in Rochester NY.
Go Preds Go!
